Five Records to Gather Before Tax Season Starts
Every refund that gets delayed has the same root cause: a missing document. The fix is simple and takes about twenty minutes in advance.
Gather your photo ID and Social Security numbers for everyone on the return, your income forms including W-2s and 1099s, your prior-year return, and a summary of any deductible expenses such as mortgage interest, tuition or charitable giving.
If you run a business, add your profit and loss summary, payroll reports and receipts for major purchases. Send everything through the secure upload on our site — no login required, and only our team can open your files.
Once the records are in one place, your appointment is about decisions rather than paperwork: which credits apply, whether your withholding is right for next year, and how to plan around the result.

What the New Tax Rules Could Mean for Your Return
Tax rules change every year. Adjustments to deduction amounts, credit eligibility, income limits, business expense treatment, mileage rates and IRS reporting requirements all reach the same return you file.
A change that looks minor on its own can move your refund meaningfully. A shifted income limit may make a credit unavailable; a revised mileage rate changes what your records are worth.
We review the rules that apply to your situation, look for benefits you may qualify for, and make sure nothing important is overlooked. Our goal is straightforward: prepare your return accurately, keep you compliant, and get the best outcome allowed under current law.
If your circumstances changed this year — a new business, a move, a first year of retirement — tell us early. Those are the years when a second look pays for itself.

Small Business Bookkeeping: Fix the Gaps Before Year-End
Most small business owners do not have a bookkeeping problem — they have a timing problem. Transactions pile up, reconciliations slip, and by January nothing matches.
Before year-end, reconcile every bank and credit card account, clear the uncategorized expense list, confirm your accounts receivable and payable are accurate, and check that payroll totals agree with your reports.
Those four steps are the difference between numbers you trust and numbers you guess at. They also protect you at tax time, because clean records mean fewer missed deductions and less risk on anything the IRS asks about later.
If your books have fallen months behind, a catch-up project is usually smaller than it feels. We handle catch-up, month-end and year-end closing as a standard service.

Got an IRS Letter? Read This Before You Panic
An envelope from the IRS is never pleasant, but most notices are routine: a request for information, a correction to a figure, or a confirmation that something was received.
Three things matter immediately. Check the notice date and the response deadline. Compare the numbers the letter references against your filed return. And do not ignore it — silence turns a question into an adjustment.
Do not send a quick explanation without reviewing the return. A careless reply can lock in a position that is harder to correct later, and it becomes part of your file.
Send us the letter and your return. We explain what the IRS is asking in plain language, tell you whether a reply is needed, and respond on your behalf where you authorize it.
